As summer approaches, here is a list of things to make sure are in good health prior to the heat.

Windows and screens are in good shape.

Exterior doors open and close correctly.

The AC unit has been charged and serviced.

The furnace filter is changed every three months.

Batteries are good in all smoke and CO detectors.

There are no bird nests blocking the exterior vents.

Tree branches are clear from hitting your home.

Your lawn is level and not full of pot holes.

All ceiling fans should be swithched to summer direction.

All debree should be cleaned from around the home to help prevent insects and rodents.

Window wells should be cleaned of all leaves.

Ensure that you renew all mulch and rock beds to prevent weed growth and improve drainage around the house.

Ensure that your gutters and downspouts are clear to ensure proper drainage away from your house.

Ensure that all your lawn and garden equipment is properly maintained and prepared for the upcoming season.

Inspect all door weather stripping to ensure there are no drafts coming in.

Prune all plants and bushes around the house.

And, above all, ensure that the grills are cleaned and prepared for use.
